Omicron strain revealed in 106 countries

Report informs, citing the document, that the omicron strain spreads faster than delta even in the countries with the highest level of herd immunity. The information on the severity of this disease is still limited, but the number of hospitalizations of patients with omicron continues to rise in South Africa and the UK.

The global health watchdog says the omicron neutralization in patients who earlier had COVID-19 or received the initial vaccination course was worse than with the previous coronavirus strains.

Therefore, the organization concludes that the omicron-related risks remain very high and warns of the risk of health system collapse.
