A new variant of coronavirus has been detected in the south of France, Report informs referring to the Austrian newspaper Heute.
The unknown strain was identified in travelers who returned to France from Cameroon. Experts do not exclude that the causative agent of this variant of the virus is common in this African country. The tests revealed in all the infected “an atypical combination of mutations,” the newspaper writes.
The new version received the designation B.1.640.2 and was discovered by the doctors of Marseille. A study by French scientists reads that 46 mutations have been identified in the new variant.
