The Islamophobia in the Western countries increased after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, Maurizio Geri, an analyst at the NATO Center for Maritime Research and Experimentation, told Report.
According to him, currently, Islamophobia in these countries is less than it was in the period after the September 11 attacks: "Islamophobia in Italy does not manifest itself as it does in France. In addition, there are many Muslim immigrants from Africa in Italy."
