Those who do not respect the norms and principles of international law should be brought to responsibility, Miroslav Lajcak, President of the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly said at the panel session titled "Towards Peace" held within the framework of the 12th Global Baku Forum.
According to Lajcak, the world has changed since the Second World War:
"Currently, the world is facing wars, including cyber wars. New, multi-level approaches are needed to establish peace in the world. We should also build our activities towards ending information wars and cyber wars. Peace should be sustainable and based on international justice."
The president stated that support for Ukraine is necessary: "The European Union should be a participant in the peace process. Even regional organizations can be involved in establishing peace."
He also highlighted that instead of criticizing international organizations, it is important to change them.
"Because we created these organizations. In general, the norms and principles of international law should be respected, and those who do not do so should be punished. Otherwise, the world will wake up to a new war every day," the politician mentioned.
