A new initiative aimed at strengthening solidarity among Global South NGOs plays a crucial role in protecting the rights of marginalized and vulnerable communities, Portia Adu-Mensah, a representative of the Ghanaian organization Dream Hunt, told Report.
"I believe that the support of NGOs in the Global South under this new initiative, which has been properly launched, is extremely important. Many communities are marginalized and vulnerable, but until now, we haven't had enough human rights structures to protect them," she emphasized.
According to Portia Adu-Mensah, the collaboration of NGOs will help promote ideas that can be translated into practical actions.
"Many communities have suffered, but their problems have long been ignored due to the lack of advocates. Now, we aim for results where projects will focus on the real needs of people and lead to tangible changes," she emphasized.
Adu-Mensah also pointed out the need to direct funding specifically to the immediate needs of affected communities.
"Many are still deprived of basic access to electricity. Funding should contribute to real improvements in living conditions and be accessible to these people. Our goal is collaboration and achieving real results, not just formal advocacy," she added.
