"I think Georgia was the first country to act as a mediator in building trust between Azerbaijan and Armenia," Georgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani said at parliament, the local bureau of Report informs.
He added that a humanitarian agreement was reached between Azerbaijan and Armenia on the initiative of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and effective cooperation with the United States.
On June 12, 2021, with the mediation of Georgia, Armenia submitted to Azerbaijan minefield maps containing 97,000 anti-tank and anti-personnel mines in the Aghdam district. In return, 15 Armenians were handed over to Armenia with the participation of the Georgian representatives on the Azerbaijani-Georgian border.
