First phase of COVCHEG project completed in Azerbaijan

Baku has hoted the press conference of the first phase of COVCHEG project.
Accordig to Slow Food coordinator Anna Kanchiyeva, the project is aimed at supporting small holder famers in the Greater Caucasus Mountains region.
"Extremely varied soil and climate conditions across Azerbaijan have led to greatly diversified plant genetic resources and animal breeds. The first phase of the project will therefore lay the foundations for an inventory of traditional crops, breeds and food products, as well astheir production and processing methods," she said.
Covcheg is financed by Slow Food (Italy), Animal Protection Public Union and the National Association of Rural Municipalities of Azerbaijan and the European Union.
Head of the EU Azerbaijan office Kestutis Jankauskas said that the partner relations between the European Union and Azerbaijan are developing day by day.
