Azerbaijan might leave Council of Europe and ECHR

Azerbaijan is considering withdrawal from the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights, Report informed with reference to diplomatic sources.

If by the end of this year, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe does not take a fair position towards Azerbaijan, the country might decide to withdraw from these two structures.

On January 24, the Azerbaijani delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) made a statement at a meeting of the Assembly, announcing its decision to cease interaction and presence in PACE until further notice.
