Azerbaijan interested in further expansion of co-op with Switzerland

Azerbaijan is interested in further expansion of cooperation with Switzerland, Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov said at an event dedicated to the Swiss National Day, Report informs.

“Azerbaijan pays great attention to relations with Switzerland and is interested in further expansion of cooperation,” the deputy minister said, noting that over the 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries, it has developed dynamically in various fields.

He reminded that Swiss companies are involved in the restoration of the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) is significantly represented in Switzerland.

In turn, Chargé d’Affaires of Switzerland in Azerbaijan Alexander Hoffet noted that during his six months in Azerbaijan he had the opportunity to travel around the country and see all the richness of Azerbaijani culture. He added that there are similar features between Azerbaijan and Switzerland - both countries are multinational, have beautiful nature and are attractive for tourists.

Alexander Hoffet noted the growth in trade turnover and mutual investment between Azerbaijan and Switzerland after the pandemic. At the same time, the potential for the development of economic cooperation is still great, he said.
