The Azerbaijani national team was well prepared for the World Minifootball Cup in Baku, both physically and tactically, Rajab Farajzada, head coach of the Azerbaijani U-23 minifootball team, told Report.
He said that the national team led by Elshad Guliyev is very strong:
"The Azerbaijani national team is very strong, they were well prepared for the World Cup. We even finished the national championship in March to create conditions for the national team to prepare at the required level. Elshad Guliyev had prepared his team well, both physically and tactically. Our players are very strong individually and in one-on-one matches. They are also different from other teams, their class is high. This was also obvious from the outside. Of the opponents, Mauritania played well physically, and their individual qualities were relatively high. In the remaining components, our team surpassed all its opponents. The games with Romania and England were difficult. True, the Azerbaijani national team was the favorite in these games too. It's just that we couldn't score because the opponents were closed. And in a certain sense, we also had luck. Overall, the Azerbaijani national team played better than everyone else."
Farajada also emphasized that some teams that were considered favorites in the World Cup did not live up to expectations:
"Serbia, Romania, Kazakhstan, and the Czech Republic have all been very good at the World Cups. Perhaps there was a generational change or something, but they didn't play at the right level this time. Of the teams that were considered favorites, neither Romania nor Serbia played well. I expected something from Portugal, because they played a game similar to futsal. But it turned out that they weren't at such a high level."
The Azerbaijani national team won the World Minifootball Cup by defeating Hungary 4:2 in the final.
