FIFA pledges $1M to support communities affected by Venezuela quake

The FIFA Foundation has announced a commitment of $1 million from its Humanitarian Fund to support relief efforts following the devastating earthquake that has affected communities across Venezuela, Report informs referring to FIFA Foundation website.

The funding will help provide urgent humanitarian assistance to those impacted by the disaster, supporting emergency response efforts and helping communities begin the road to recovery.

"The people of Venezuela have the full solidarity of the global football family during this incredibly difficult time," said FIFA President Gianni Infantino. "Football has a unique ability to unite and inspire hope, especially in moments of crisis."

Two earthquakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude, struck Venezuela on June 24. These were the strongest to hit the country since 1900. As many as 856 buildings were damaged, and more than 190 were destroyed. The death toll rose to 3,899, with another 16,740 injured.
