The Turkish lira has fallen to a record low against the US dollar amid the expectations that the Central Bank of Turkey (CBT) will reduce the discount rate tomorrow.
Citing foreign media, Report informs that at around 10:30 am (GMT +4) today, $1 was equal to 10.45 lira in the neighboring country.
The sharp depreciation of the lira began in the middle of last month against the background of the dismissal of three officials of the CBA, including two deputy chairmen. At the end of October, the regulator reduced the discount rate from 18% to 16%. After that, the depreciation of the national currency has accelerated.
