Russia’s Central Bank to launch pilot project on operations with digital ruble from April 1

From April 1, 2023, the Bank of Russia (a.k.a. Central Bank) is launching a pilot project on real transactions with the digital ruble with the participation of 13 banks, First Deputy Chairperson of the Central Bank Olga Skorobogatova said on the sidelines of the Cybersecurity in Finance forum, Report informs referring to TASS.

“We plan to launch the digital ruble project on April 1 with transactions between individuals and payments in trade and service enterprises at the beginning, at this stage. I will immediately draw your attention to the fact that the pilot project will go on real transactions, real customers, but for a limited number of transactions and for a limited number of clients with 13 banks that have already technically confirmed their readiness,” she said.
