Price of gold exceeds $2,100 per troy ounce

Gold prices rose nearly 1% on Monday morning, reaching a record price above $2,100 a troy ounce, Report informs.

The price of December gold futures on the New York Comex exchange rose by $17.7, or 0.85%, to $2,107.15 per troy ounce. December silver futures rose 0.09% to $25.317 per ounce.

The next meeting of the US Federal Reserve System (Fed) will take place on December 13th. According to CME Group, 97.8% of analysts predict that the discount rate will once again remain at the current level of 5.25-5.5%.

Investors are expecting some data that will also be assessed by the Fed. Thus, on Thursday information will be released on the number of initial applications for unemployment benefits filed for the week ending December 2. It is expected that their number has increased by 5,000, to 223,000. And on Friday the unemployment rate in the country will become known; experts predict that it will remain at 3.9% in November.
