Deputy minister: Integration into SDGs to become important tool for financing sustainable development

Azerbaijan plans to present the next Voluntary National Review on the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at a high-level political forum to be held in 2024, Deputy Minister of Economy Sahib Mammadov said at the event “Azerbaijan in the Global Sustainable Development Goals Index” in Baku, Report informs.

“In the country, state programs, strategies, action plans covering the socio-economic and environmental spheres have been adapted to the goals and objectives of the SDGs. To this end, more than 30 state programs and action plans adopted over the past period have been integrated into the SDGs. I would like to emphasize that that by the order of President Ilham Aliyev dated February 2, 2021, “Azerbaijan 2030: national priorities for socio-economic development” was approved and five national priorities were identified,” Mammadov said.

He noted that the action plan of the strategy is fully integrated into the goals and objectives of the SDGs, which will become an important tool for financing sustainable development in Azerbaijan: “As a result of the implementation of the strategy, by 2026 the country’s economy may grow by an average of 3-4% annually, an average of 5% per year.
