“In terms of lending to Azerbaijan, the World Bank (WB) has quite a bit of flexibility,” Bank’s Country Manager for Azerbaijan Sarah Michael told Report.
According to her, in the current situation, the bank wants to be as useful as it can: “So I don’t have an upper limit in terms of financing that we can bring. But I can say we have a lot of available financing for Azerbaijan that we can be ready to deploy if the government requests.”
She also noted that they would be happy to support the government in terms of reconstruction and recovery on transport, health or education, SME development.
Azerbaijan has been in cooperation with the World Bank since 1992. The Bank has allocated about $4 billion for Azerbaijan on more than 50 projects.
