WB official: Azerbaijan will be able to integrate 1.8 GW of electricity into grid

After the implementation of the "Project for Expanding the Use of Renewable Energy Sources in Azerbaijan" between the Government of Azerbaijan and the World Bank, the country will be able to integrate 1.8 GW of electricity into the grid, World Bank Country Manager for Azerbaijan Stefanie Stallmeister said at the signing ceremony of the loan agreement for the project, Report informs.

According to Stallmeister, Azerbaijan is becoming a green energy country: "The country has taken steps towards the development of the green energy sector both during and after COP29 and has made commitments in this regard. We hope that after this new project, others will also be implemented."

She noted that after the completion of the aforementioned project, Azerbaijan will be able to integrate 1.8 gigawatts of electricity into the grid: "Of course, this is a great achievement. In addition, this project will create an opportunity to expand private sector investments in this direction, which is important for the development of Azerbaijan's renewable energy sector."

Stressing that cooperation with Azerbaijan continues successfully, Stallmeister expressed confidence that the World Bank Group will continue to make significant contributions to the sustainable and inclusive development of the country by supporting projects in line with Azerbaijan's socio-economic development priorities.
