Turkmenistan's President receives Rovnag Abdullayev

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has received President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Rovnag Abdullayev.

Report informs that SOCAR President expressed gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan for devoting the time to a meeting and conveyed the kind words of President Ilham Aliyev to him.

It was noted at the meeting that Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan have substantial economic, energy, and transport-logistics potential, creating ample opportunities for fruitful cooperation in strategically important areas.

The sides exchanged views on the prospects of partnership in the oil and gas industry and the implementation of the joint projects. In this regard, the discussions also covered issues related to the exploration, development, and appropriation of hydrocarbon resources of the Dostlug field in the Caspian Sea.

The parties stressed the importance of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan on this field in January. It was noted that a draft bilateral agreement is currently being prepared based on this memorandum.

Noting the special attention by the state to the application of advanced experience and high technologies and the latest scientific and technical achievements in his country's fuel and energy sector, Gurbangulu Berdimuhamedov said they are always ready for mutually beneficial cooperation with leading foreign companies.

SOCAR President, in turn, emphasized the dynamic development of the oil and gas sector in Turkmenistan, noting that significant projects were implemented in this area. According to him, it creates a sound basis for joint productive activities for specialists of the two countries.
