Szijjártó: Hungary plans to buy 1 BCM of natural gas from Azerbaijan

Hungary plans to buy 1 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Azerbaijan in order to diversify its sources of supply, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said at a press conference following a meeting with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, Report informs referring to the Hungarian edition Portfolio.

Szijjártó urged the EU to allocate funds to expand the capacity of pipelines through which Azerbaijani natural gas can be delivered to Romania and Hungary.

Also, a preliminary agreement has been reached between Baku and Budapest on the participation of Hungarian construction companies in the restoration work in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, the minister noted.

In August, Budapest and Baku signed a political agreement, according to which the volume of Azerbaijani gas supplies to Hungary will increase to about 1 billion cubic meters.
