SOCAR, BP discuss prospects for long-term cooperation in energy sector

Azerbaijan's State Oil Company (SOCAR) and British company BP discussed a long-term, effective partnership and opportunities for future cooperation.

According to Report, SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf said in a post on X that discussions were held during Najaf's meeting with Gordon Birrell, BP's Executive Vice President for Upstream, and Gio Cristofoli, BP's Regional President for the Caspian, Central Asia and Türkiye.

Najaf said the meeting reviewed progress on the development of untapped gas reserves located in the deep reservoirs of the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) field block, the Shah Deniz Compression project, the Karabakh field, the Ustyurt investment block, the Shafag Solar Power Plant and other joint projects.

He noted that the mutual trust and shared experience built up over many years provide a solid foundation for expanding the partnership into new projects and areas.

"Further strengthening and advancing this cooperation, which enhances Azerbaijan's contribution to global energy security, remains one of our key priorities," he said.
