Exploring and unlocking the potential of renewable energy sources speaks to Azerbaijan's commitment to the energy transition, Samir Sharifov, Minister of Finance and Governor for Azerbaijan at the ADB, said during the panel discussion on Middle Corridor, according to Report.
"First of all, this means the desire to diversify the economy from oil and gas to renewable energy sources," he said.
The minister also noted that this year Azerbaijan will host the very important global climate conference COP29.
Sharifov added that by 2030, Azerbaijan will probably be able to produce up to 2 GW of energy from renewable sources.
"And this will be done both through public investment and private capital," he said.
