Parviz Shahbazov: Azerbaijan will export green energy to Europe in addition to natural gas in future

Along with natural gas, Azerbaijan also plans to export green energy to Europe in the future, Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said at a meeting with the delegation led by Greek Environment and Energy Minister Konstantinos Skrekas, who is visiting Azerbaijan, Report informs.

During the meeting, the ministers discussed the issues arising from energy cooperation between the two countries.

Shahbazov gave information about the works carried out within the framework of the green energy transition following the current challenges in Azerbaijan. The importance of natural gas in the transition period was emphasized, and information was given about gas fields and reserves in Azerbaijan in the context of doubling the volume of gas exports to Europe, which is envisaged by the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Azerbaijan and the European Union on Strategic Partnership in the field of energy.

Skrekas noted that the Southern Gas Corridor is highly important for Greece regarding gas sources and route diversification.

The minister expressed great interest in expanding the project and increasing gas volumes and emphasized the importance of connecting pipelines in this area.
