Kazakhstan eyes launching differentiated gas tariffs

Kazakhstan plans to introduce differentiated gas tariffs, acting Energy Minister Bolat Akchulakov said at a government meeting, Report informs referring to Sputnik-Kazakhstan.

“The domestic consumption of natural gas has grown significantly, by more than 2 billion cubic meters compared to 2020,” Akchulakov noted.

In order to provide the domestic market with gas, the Ministry of Energy, together with interested enterprises, adopted legislative changes to stimulate gas production; work is underway to sell new gas processing plants at the Kashagan and Karachaganak fields; agreements were reached with Russia’s Gazprom on gas imports within the signed road map.

He added that as a result of these measures, starting this year, an increase in commercial gas production is expected with a significant increase in 2025.
