Gabor Orban: MVM working on concluding gas supply contract with Azerbaijan

Hungarian company MVM is working on concluding a gas supply contract with Azerbaijan, including a long-term, MVM CEEnergy CEO Gabor Orban said during the 30th anniversary Baku Energy Forum, Report informs.

“We were the first Central European trading company to purchase and physically transport Azerbaijani gas to Hungary - namely pipeline gas. And it was a short-term contract. In general, we consider all this within the framework of a strategic partnership, so we are working to conclude contracts, including long-term contracts,” Orban noted.

He added that without any stable conditions, it is very difficult to talk about the contract term or its duration.

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and MVM CEEnergy signed a contract in June 2023 for the supply of 100 million cubic meters of gas. Deliveries began in April 2024. In addition, MVM Group owns a 5% stake in the Shah Deniz project and a 4% stake in the South Caucasus Pipeline Company (SCPC, operator of the South Caucasus Pipeline).
