Regulation is one of the key issues for the next phase of the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) development, Elshad Nasirov, Vice President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), said during the ministerial meetings held in Baku as part of the advisory councils on the SGC and "green energy."
"One of the critical issues, as we have discussed today, is regulation, which will impact the next phase of the Southern Gas Corridor's development. Will the European Union support long-term contracts and government funding that will enable us to take the next significant step and ensure additional gas export volumes? We believe the answer is yes, and we are confident in our ability to move forward on a large scale," he stated.
Nasirov emphasized that the key to decision-making in the energy sector and shaping policy in uncertain conditions lies in relying on one's own strengths: "The strength of Azerbaijan and SOCAR lies in reliability, respect for contractual obligations, regulatory stability, and sincere partnerships with Europe and other countries."
The Southern Gas Corridor project, initiated by Azerbaijan, is a priority for the EU and involves the transportation of gas from the Caspian region through Georgia and Türkiye to European countries.
