Azerbaijan's methanol production falls 29.8%

Azerbaijan produced 223,200 tons of methanol (methyl alcohol) in January-August 2026.
According to Report, citing the State Statistical Committee, this was 29.8% less than in the first eight months of 2025.
As of September 1, stocks of finished methanol products amounted to 37,000 tons.
Methanol is produced at SOCAR's Methanol Plant in Baku's Garadagh district.
The plant was commissioned in 2013. Since 2016, it has operated under the management of SOCAR's subsidiary SOCAR Methanol LLC and became the company's property in August 2017.
The facility has an annual production capacity of 650,000-700,000 tons of methanol. Natural gas and desalinated water are used as raw materials in production.
