Azerbaijan posts over 21% growth in gasoline production

Azerbaijan produced petroleum products worth 2,974.1 million manats ($1.75 billion) in January-August 2023, 13% more than a year ago, Report informs, referring to the State Statistical Committee.

During the reporting period, 951,200 tons (+21.3%) of gasoline, 1,547,400 tons of diesel fuel (+22.4%), 40,000 tons of lubricants (+70.9%), 171,500 tons of petroleum bitumen (-33.4%) were produced.

In the reporting period, the country also produced 159,600 tons (+8.9%) of liquid gases, 384,200 tons of kerosene (+7.5%), 5,200 tons of fuel oil (-92.3%), and 160,700 tons of petroleum coke (+37.8%).

As the only oil refinery in the region, the Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery of SOCAR provides Azerbaijan with fuels such as RON-92, diesel, and jet fuel, but also supplies SOCAR's petrochemical plants in Azerbaijan with raw materials. Some of the plant's products are exported. Modernization and reconstruction work aimed at increasing the production capacity of the refinery, providing the country with high-quality fuel in accordance with Euro-5 standards, stable supply of Azerikimya PU, and increasing the export potential of oil products are important for Azerbaijan's industry.
