Austria may freeze electricity prices from December 1

Austria plans to "freeze" electricity prices from December 1 to June 30, 2024, Chancellor Karl Nehammer said at a press conference following the government meeting, Report informs citing foreign media.
"We agreed to introduce a price brake on electricity," he said.
According to Nehammer, the measure includes partial reimbursement by the state of the population's electricity costs within the consumption of 2,900 kWh. Thus, a household will be able to save around 500 euros per year.
