A round table with participation of employers and representatives of Azerbaijan's major companies was held today as part of the program 'Vocational education and training of the future: support to the creation of the centers of professional education in Azerbaijan,' Report informs.
Earlier, the European Union (EU), the UN Development Program (UNDP), and the Ministry of Education have launched a new project estimated at EUR 5.6 million to support the quality professional education in the system of professional education and training in Azerbaijan.
The four-year project, financed by the European Union and implemented by the UNDP, is aimed at supporting the State Agency on Vocational Education to train personnel based on the current requirements of the labor market.
During the event, the participants discussed such issues as opportunities of cooperation with vocational educational facilities, the program of student exchange, discussions of the education concept, detailed consideration of any joint business opportunities, creation of the centers of career development, and modernization of mechanisms of cooperation of technical schools with employers from various companies.
During the discussions, the employers of Azerbaijan's major companies exchanged views on the main problems that appear in hiring candidates. They listed such issues as lack of experience among candidates, lack of or weak knowledge of foreign languages, etc. It was also noted that the problems must be solved through complex approaches. That is, the cooperation of the private sector with vocational schools and the involvement of teachers and parents is a critical factor.
