Azerbaijan to establish Archaeological Fund

An Archaeological Fund will be established under the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology, the President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Academician Isa Habibbayli, said at a scientific session on "Archaeological and anthropological research in Azerbaijan: Results and prospects" held at the institute.

He noted that in accordance with the modern requirements, new and improved scientific research structures such as Islamic archaeology, ethnoarchaeology, forensic archaeology, Caspian archaeology, and the Karabakh archaeological expedition have been created at the institute, using internal resources and existing staff units:

"These reforms, in addition to forming new, modern challenges for the institute, determine the conduct of fundamental and innovative scientific research in the fields of archaeology and anthropology in Azerbaijan as one of its main goals."
