Today is the second anniversary of the liberation of the 132-kilometer section of the Azerbaijani-Iranian state border, which had been under the occupation of the Armenian Armed Forces for many years.

The Azerbaijani military, which liberated the Aghband settlement and the Aghband border post, reported this to Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev.

Currently, the construction of the Horadiz-Jabrayil-Zengilan-Aghband highway, which is highly important for Azerbaijan, is being continued. This highway passes through the territory of the liberated Fuzuli, Jabrayil, and Zangilan districts. The foundation of the road, with a total length of 123.8 km, was laid on April 26, 2021, during the visit of President Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, and their daughters Leyla Aliyeva to Jabrayil and Zangilan districts.
Along with this, the construction of the Horadiz-Aghband railway line is also underway. The length of the Horadiz-Aghband railway line, laid by the President of the country in February 2021, is 110.4 km. Construction works are carried out in 3 stages. The first stage is 30 km, including Horadiz, Marjanli, and Mahmudlu stations. The second stage is 55 km, including Soltanli, Gumlaq, Hakari, and Minjivan stations, and the third stage is 25.4 km, starting from Minjivan and covering Bartaz and Aghband stations.
The Aghband settlement, a part of the Vejnali village of the Zangilan administrative district, was occupied by the Armenian Armed Forces in 1993. The settlement is located on the bank of the Araz River at the foot of Mount Aghband. Its name is taken from this mountain.
