Khojaly genocide victim: We reached Aghdam after two days in hiding

The victim Shahla Talibova, who testified at the trial in the Baku Military Court on July 21, stated that she was deported from her ancestral homeland in Armenia in 1988, settled in the Shusha district, and then moved to Khojaly due to her husband's work there, Report informs.

Talibova said when the pressure against Azerbaijanis began, a piece of glass got into her 10-day-old baby's eye when their bus was pelted with stones.

She stated that during the night of February 25-26, 1992, when the Khojaly genocide occurred, they fled to the forest with difficulty and were able to reach Aghdam after staying there for two days. During the genocide, her father-in-law and mother-in-law were held hostage for 7 days. Also, other relatives were held hostage, and some went missing.

"My children were severely traumatized. After returning to Baku, my daughter compared stars to rockets. When she saw stars in the sky, she would say, 'Mom, they're firing rockets, let's go...'," she added.

The trial continues for Armenian citizens accused of crimes against peace and humanity, including war crimes, acts of terrorism, the preparation and execution of aggressive war, genocide, violations of war laws and rules, forcible seizure and retention of power, as well as financing terrorism, among other offenses stemming from Armenia's military aggression.
