Russia wants neighboring Muslim countries to support its policy through such pressure, Azerbaijani Member of Parliament and political scientist Rasim Musabayov told Report.
He noted that law enforcement agencies in Russia are essentially carrying out violence against Azerbaijanis living there: "The goal is not only to intimidate the Azerbaijani diaspora, but all - Uzbek, Tajik, Kyrgyz, Kazakh, Turkmen people. The purpose of Russian law enforcement agencies is to insult these people whenever they want to detain them. Their desire is for diaspora organizations to gather young people and send them to the front in Ukraine."
The deputy added that no one wants to go to war and become a victim of such a chauvinist policy. For this reason, Russia wants neighboring Muslim countries to support its policy through such pressure: "I think they will not achieve anything. Azerbaijan tried for a long time to develop a friendly, good-neighborly policy with Russia. It seems they didn't understand it. There is another way - to distance oneself from Russia and maximize that distance."
On the morning of June 27, the Russian FSB raided the homes of Azerbaijanis in Yekaterinburg. During the raid, two people were killed and several others were injured. The killed Azerbaijanis were brothers of the well-known journalist Seyfaddin Huseynli.
