Opening ceremony of ‘Youth for Green World 5th Summer Camp held in Lachin

The opening ceremony of the “Youth for Green World” 5th Summer Camp of Diaspora Youth has been held in Lachin, Report informs.

The camp, jointly organized by the State Committee for Work with Diaspora and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, will last until August 7.

A total of 115 young people from 60 countries are participating in the camp. This includes Azerbaijanis living abroad and representatives of other nations who have a friendly attitude towards Azerbaijan.

Speaking at the event, the special representative of the Azerbaijani President in Lachin, Masim Mammadov stated that the residents of Lachin district, Azerbaijan will be relocated to Gulabird village in the next phase, with the move scheduled for the second half of this year.

Mammadov also mentioned that construction work will commence in other villages of the district, including Gorchu, Shalva, Arikli, and others.

“Lachin was our district under occupation for the longest period. Now, it has been transformed into a paradise. The first residents were relocated to Lachin on May 28 of last year. Currently, more than two thousand residents have settled in Lachin city, and over a thousand in Zabukh and Sus. The relocation process will continue in the future,” the special representative stated.

In particular, Farah Aliyeva, Head of the Department for Humanitarian Policy, Diaspora Issues, Multiculturalism and Religion of Azerbaijan's Presidential Administration highlighted the crucial role of youth in realizing the highest ideals and driving progress in all countries.

She acknowledged the fact that many Azerbaijani youth live and study abroad, but stressed the importance of remembering the sacrifices made by Azerbaijani soldiers who gave up their right to life for the sake of their homeland.

"You must know these facts and pass them on to future generations," she urged.

Meanwhile, Fuad Muradov, Chairman of the Azerbaijan State Committee on Work with Diaspora, also addressed the challenges of negative propaganda against Azerbaijan, calling on young Azerbaijanis living abroad to inform their communities about the realities of their homeland.

"Today, there are double standards against Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan doesn't need special propaganda; it would be enough to convey the realities," he explained.

While highlighting the existence of over 300 Azerbaijani diaspora organizations worldwide, Muradov acknowledged that not all are equally effective. He urged young people to become more actively involved in diaspora activities.

Furthermore, Elvin Aslanov, the representative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, said that they attach special importance to the development of young people.

"This camp held in Lachin is of special importance. These areas were liberated thanks to the heroism of the Azerbaijani Army. I hope that the experience you gained in the camp will contribute to the better recognition of Azerbaijan worldwide,” Aslanov underlined.

After the speeches, the official part of the event concluded.

During a week, participants will have the opportunity to explore the historical and cultural monuments of Lachin and Karabakh, meet with families of martyrs and veterans, engage with experts in various fields, and participate in panels, seminars, and intellectual games.

Additionally, visits are planned to the Islimi Carpet Weaving Center, Gilabi Ceramics Center, Hakari Fish Farm, Hochazfilm Creative Studio, Zabukh village, Shusha, and several other cities in Karabakh.

These summer camps aim to strengthen the ties of young Azerbaijanis abroad with their homeland, enhance their skills to represent Azerbaijan successfully, and provide networking opportunities and new friendships.

The organizers fully cover the participation costs.

Previously, four summer camps have been organized with the joint organization of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Shaki, Shamakhi, Shusha, and Nakhchivan, with hundreds of young people from over 50 countries participating.
