A presentation of the documentary film "The Origin of Venezuela" with Azerbaijani subtitles dedicated to the country's liberation struggle that began on July 5, 1811, has been held in Baku, Report informs.
The presentation was organized by the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Azerbaijan and was timed to coincide with the celebration of the 214th anniversary of the country's independence.
The welcoming speech was made by Venezuelan Ambassador to Baku Christopher Martinez, who conveyed warm congratulations on behalf of the Venezuelan people and President Nicolas Maduro, expressing gratitude for the support and friendship shown towards his country. The ambassador reminded that July 5, 1811, was a fateful date in the history of Venezuela - it was on this day that it became the first Latin American country to officially declare independence from the Spanish Empire.
"At this moment, the Venezuelan people, with one voice, with courage and determination, declared their right to freedom, beginning the history of a sovereign state," the diplomat emphasized.
He also noted the fighting and revolutionary spirit of the Venezuelan people, declaring the country's determination to defend peace and justice.
"Today, Venezuela raises its voice to warn the world community about the growing threats. President Nicolas Maduro called on world leaders to participate in the World Summit for Peace and Against War. This is a call that must be responded to without delay. On July 25, the World Congress of Peoples for Peace and Against War will be held in Venezuela, with representatives from different countries, including Azerbaijan, participating," Martinez said.
