Climate change has a serious impact on children not only from a physical perspective but also negatively affects their ability to learn, representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Azerbaijan, Saja Farooq Abdullah, said at a panel meeting during the second day of Pre-COP29 in Baku, Report informs.

She noted that she approves of the idea of educating children to strive to combat climate change and their active participation in this process through education.

She added that the UNICEF office in Azerbaijan actively cooperates with the Ministry of Science and Education, and they have jointly implemented several projects: "In October, we will jointly hold a festival. The STEM program provides children and adults in eight regions of Azerbaijan with the opportunity to discover and develop their talents in science, technology, creativity, and innovative ideas in the field of green technologies. In addition, on behalf of the UN Children's Fund, I would like to congratulate the Ministry of Science and Education on such a forward-looking approach to promoting STEM in the country, as well as on the desire to provide an opportunity for all students to truly unlock their talents. I also want to congratulate the government of Azerbaijan for its willingness to sign the Declaration on Children, Youth and Climate Action within the Conference of the Parties."
