Vali Guliyev: AI to increase labor productivity, create new professions and challenges

The scientific and technical revolution created by artificial intelligence (AI) will lead to increased labor productivity, Vali Guliyev, head of the State Labor Inspection Service under Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, Report informs.

Guliyev made the remark at a conference on "The Impact of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence on Workplaces" dedicated to World Occupational Safety Day and the 120th anniversary of the first collective agreement.

The official noted that the expansion of digitalization and the application of AI, as well as the transition to a green economy, make the emergence of new professions inevitable: "This leads to the actualization of new challenges in the field of labor protection. At the same time, the risks of occupational diseases, including new types of diseases, will also increase. In such conditions, it is necessary to establish new regulatory mechanisms and reformulate risk models."

Guliyev emphasized that the Labor and Employment subsystem (EMAS) plays an important role in the digitalization of labor relations: "The improvements made in EMAS, recent changes to labor legislation, and planned new projects create extensive opportunities for electronic regulation of labor relations and labor protection, and for establishing a proactive monitoring mechanism for compliance with labor legislation. Currently, the electronic conclusion of labor contracts, correspondence between employees and employers through electronic cabinets, technical functionalities created in EMAS for labor protection, and the integration of databases of various institutions with the system are of great importance."

He also pointed out that these measures create conditions for employers and relevant institutions to identify and prevent certain risks in advance, and as a result, take employee-employer relations and labor protection to a new level.
