Iran increases exports to Central Asian and Caucasian countries by 50%

A total of $215 million worth of goods were exported from Iran to Central Asian and Caucasian countries, as well as Russia, during the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21–April 20), registering a 50% rise compared with the same month of last year, according to Rahmatollah Khormali, an official with the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, Report informs, citing Financial Tribune.
Russia topped the list of export destinations with $60 million. It was followed by Azerbaijan with $33 million, Armenia with $32 million, Turkmenistan with $27 million, and Uzbekistan with $20 million.
Exports to these countries stood at $3.2 billion in fiscal 2022–23 (ended March 20), registering an 18% rise compared with the year before, IRNA reported.
Russia also topped the list of export destinations during the year with $745 million, showing a 30% increase compared with the year before. Azerbaijan with $650 million, Armenia with $465 million, Turkmenistan with $460 million, and Uzbekistan with $290 million came next.
Khormali noted that Iranian exports to Asian and Caucasian countries, as well as Russia, registered a 40% increase in fiscal 2021–22.
