Facebook to allow employees delay returning to office

Meta, the company previously known as Facebook, will allow some of its employees to return to the office at a later date than when it reopens its offices in January, the latest business to alter its reopening plans amid the coronavirus’ omicron variant, Report informs referring to Forbes.

Meta said it will stick to its plan of reopening offices on January 31, but will give employees three options: Work in-person, work remotely full-time or work at home for another three to five months through an “office deferral program” for US-and Canada-based employees.

A spokesperson said the company provided these different options to help employees decide “how and when they return to work” because it’s not a “one size fits all” situation.

All employees entering US offices will need to be vaccinated against Covid-19.

Meta said many of its US offices are currently open with limited capacity, including its headquarters, which is at 50% capacity.

The company said it is monitoring the spread of the omicron variant and is working with experts to make sure that the return to office transition is carried out safely.
