Azerbaijan’s deputy PM expected in Russia for visit

The Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO) and the Trade Representation of the Russian Federation in Azerbaijan will hold a round table meeting on May 17 in Kazan, Report informs referring to the official website of the International Economic Forum “Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum.”

“As part of the KazanForum, a round table “Russia and Azerbaijan” will be held on May 17, organized by AZPROMO and the Trade Mission of the Russian Federation in Azerbaijan,” reads the message.

The working table meeting will be attended by: Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexey Overchuk, Deputy Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Sahib Alakbarov, Deputy Minister of Economy of Russia Dmitry Volvach, Head of AZPROMO Yusif Abdullayev, Chairman of the Board of the Agency for the Development of Small and Medium Businesses of Azerbaijan Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Agency for Development of Economic Zones of Azerbaijan Seymur Adigozalov and others.

“The Republic of Azerbaijan is a key partner of the Russian Federation in the South Caucasus. Several joint mega-projects are currently being developed that will not only be bilateral, but also global in nature. Among them are the development of the international transport corridor 'North-South', cooperation in the fuel and energy sector, cooperation in industrial production, Russia is one of the top three trading partners of Azerbaijan and ranks first in the import of Azerbaijani products from the non-hydrocarbon sector,” the event information says.

The participants of the working table will discuss the most relevant tracks of economic cooperation in the medium term, measures that the state and business should take to overcome barriers to the supply of products and the influx of investments, and the question of how to expand bottlenecks in the transport, logistics, credit and financial spheres.

KazanForum will be held in Russia’s Tatarstan from May 14 to 19, 2024. Representatives of Azerbaijan, Algeria, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Kuwait, Malaysia, Morocco, UAE, Syria, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and other countries are expected to participate.

The business program of KazanForum includes discussion of issues of international cooperation, tourism, business, science and technology, Islamic finance and investment, etc.
