Azerbaijan intends to reach new markets, primarily in the Eastern, Baltic, and European countries, with its wines, head of Azerbaijan Wine Producers and Exporters Association Elchin Madatov told Report.
He said traditional markets occupy top places in the export of wine products.
"We export to Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, and Middle Asian republics. These countries are in the first place in our export. Over the past two years, we have significantly lagged in the Chinese market due to the pandemic. Our main aim is to strengthen our positions in traditional markets. Our production is famous and of demand in the markets of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. The Central Asian countries are other markets of interest. Azerbaijani wines are currently exported to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. We want to consolidate in these countries. Our products have taken their place in these markets for many years, and we are famous there as a wine-producing state. But markets of eastern countries are new to us. Unfortunately, they are geographically remote, transport and logistic routes are limited, and we cannot advance in these markets. On the other hand, we are interested in the Baltic and European markets. We export in these countries. Of the European Union member-states, it is Poland. We have recently launched exports to Israel. We hope that export to these countries will increase," he said.
