Azerbaijan developing methodology to assess farm resilience

Azerbaijan is developing a methodology to assess the resilience of farms, which will take into account not only economic indicators but also environmental and social metrics, Aynur Seidyusif, Partnership and Operations Specialist at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Azerbaijan, said at a panel session during Baku Climate Action Week 2026 (BCAW 2026), Report informs.

According to her, the project is being implemented jointly with the Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan within the framework of a technical support program developed at the request of the government.

Seidyusif noted that traditional assessment systems are mainly focused on economic indicators - production volume, crop yield, income, farm size, and the level of support received.

The new system will make it possible to account for farmers' efforts to adapt to modern challenges, including investments in soil health, the introduction of modern technologies, and the improvement of irrigation systems, she added.
