Azerbaijan obtains full membership in Hotelstars Union

Azerbaijan's full membership status was unanimously confirmed at the 9th General Assembly of the Hotelstars Union (HSU) held in Oslo, Norway, Report informs, citing the Azerbaijan State Tourism Agency.

For the first time in the South Caucasus region, Azerbaijan has received full membership status, gaining the opportunity to be represented in the governing structures of the Union.

Speaking at the Assembly, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board, Rashad Aliyev, noted that in recent years, international quality standards in the hotel industry have been promoted in our country, and 263 hotels have been awarded various star ratings by the certification body that determines hotel star categories.

He emphasized that this year the star classification process will be carried out across Azerbaijan's regions, and as part of public-private partnership, hotels located in the regions will not be charged certificate tariffs for the first year.

According to the joint activity agreement signed between the Azerbaijan Tourism Board and the Azerbaijan Hotel Association in 2018, hotel star categories are determined by the National Star Classification System based on the classification criteria of the Hotelstars Union.
