Turkish minister: Implementation of Zangazur Corridor to be important step for Middle Corridor

The implementation of the Zangazur Corridor project, which will provide direct rail and road transport between Türkiye and Azerbaijan, will be an important step for all countries of the Middle Corridor, the Transport and Infrastructure Minister of Türkiye Abdulkadir Uraloglu said, Report informs.

“The Kars - Nakhchivan railway project will connect the whole of Europe through Nakhchivan with Iran, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Pakistan,” Uraloglu stressed.

The minister noted that cargo trains run via the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line from Türkiye to many points in Europe, including Bulgaria, Hungary, Germany, Austria, Poland, Romania, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Serbia and France in the West, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan in the East, Russia in the North, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and China: “Now we have set ourselves the goal of implementing two new international lines - the “Path of Development” project (will provide Türkiye with access to the Persian Gulf through the territory Iraq) and the Zangazur Corridor."

The transport minister also said that a new stage of development in the railway sector has begun in Türkiye under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He added that the length of the railway network in the country has reached 14,000 kilometers.

Abdulkadir Uraloglu previously stated that Azerbaijan continues work on the Zangazur Corridor, and the Turkish side will soon begin construction of a section on its territory.
