Georgian Police pushes protesters from entire Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi

The Georgian police special forces have completely pushed the protesters from the Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi, Report informs via TASS.

The police once again had to use tear gas. Several people were apprehended; the protestors did not resist the enforcement officers.

The standoff between the protesters and the police on the Rustaveli Avenue lasted throughout the night. The protesters burned dumpsters and wooded chairs trying to create a barrier between themselves and the police. Clashes sparked sporadically; the police had to use water cannons and tear gas.

The snap rally in Tbilisi sparked on Thursday after Prime Minister Irakly Kobakhidze announced that the Georgian Dream party decided not to include the accession to the EU on agenda until 2028 and to refuse all budgetary grants from the European Union. According to the Prime Minister, this was caused by constant blackmail from the EU in regards to issue of the beginning of the dialogue, its demand to cancel a number of adopted laws and its calls to impose sanctions against Georgian authorities.
