Türkiye expects to become a permanent member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and sees no obstacles to this, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told journalists upon returning from a trip to Kazakhstan for the SCO summit, Report informs referring to TASS.
“Our position is that we should be accepted into the organization not as a dialogue partner, but like the rest of the organization’s members. Ultimately, Iran joined the SCO, Pakistan is also a member. Now the SCO has nine permanent members. There is no word from that Türkiye will not be able to be among these countries, although this may take some time,” Anadolu Agency quoted Erdogan as saying.
