A Canadian woman was struck and killed by a small plane while mowing grass at an airfield in Quebec,
The freak incident took place just before 1 p.m. on Monday at the Saint-Esprit airfield, about 37 miles north of Montreal, Canada’s CTV News reported.
The woman, who was in her 20s, had been riding a lawnmower near a runway when she was hit by an incoming aircraft, the report said.
“The victim was on a tractor and she was hit by a plane that was landing,” Quebec provincial police spokesperson Marc Tessier told the outlet.
She was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Authorities didn’t release her name.
The pilot was also hospitalized and treated for nervous shock, Tessier said.
The plane appeared to be a Chinese-built Nanchang CJ-6 or a Soviet Yakovlev Yak-52, the report said.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating the crash.
