Unknown gunman opens fire on hunters in Russia, killing one

An unidentified person opened fire on hunters in Russia's Novosibirsk region, killing one person and injuring two others.

According to the Russian media, cited by Report, the incident occurred on August 28 at a lake in the Moshkovo district.

The incident came to light after one of the hunters called a relative. The man said they had come under fire and that he had hidden inside a car, while two of his relatives remained outside.

Rescuers who arrived at the scene found the body of one person. One of the hunters sustained serious injuries, while another suffered minor injuries. The seriously injured man was evacuated from the forest and handed over to an ambulance crew.

Rescuers remained at the scene throughout the night, while additional police forces arrived early Saturday morning.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.
