UN high commissioner calls renewed fighting in Gaza disaster

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, has assessed the resumption of fighting in the Gaza Strip as a disaster, Report informs referring to TASS.

In a statement issued in Geneva, he called on all parties to the conflict and countries with influence on them to immediately take steps to achieve a ceasefire.

The UN high commissioner expressed deep concern at statements by Israeli political and military leaders about plans to expand and increase the intensity of offensive operations.
