Tsunami advisory issued for Japan's Izu Islands after strong quake

Japan's Izu Islands are under a tsunami advisory after a magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck nearby in the Pacific Ocean, Report informs, citing NHK.
Japan's Meteorological Agency says the quake occurred at around 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at a depth of 10 kilometers near Torishima Island in the Izu chain, which is part of Tokyo.
The agency issued the tsunami advisory at 11:06 a.m.
Tsunami waves of up to one meter were expected to hit the islands at 11:30 a.m.
People are advised to stay away from the seashore and river mouths.
Some changes in tide levels were also expected along the Pacific coast of Japan's main islands.
